Once the member finishes the renewal and submits it, it is sent to an agency for processing. Even though someone can assist an applicant or member with completing a renewal, only the applicant, member, or their authorized representative can electronically sign and submit the renewal. It is very important that the applicant or member reads and understands the Rights and Responsibilities listed on this page.
Sometimes, the applicant or member needs to mail, fax, or bring verification to the income maintenance agency. The applicant or member is notified about verification that is needed and when it is due. There is also information about required documentation in the Next Steps and Submit Your Documents sections. Without this verification, the renewal cannot be completed, and benefits may end.
Keep in mind that the renewal must be processed by the income maintenance agency before the benefits are renewed. For FoodShare, Child Care, and W-2, the applicant or member may also need to have an interview with a worker. The applicant or member is given information about how to do this.
