32-Bit Operating System

If you are not using Windows 7 or are using a 32-bit Windows 7 on the scan PC, see Section 3.6.6.2 Access the OCX V11 Files (for 32-Bit Windows 7 or Previous Versions of Windows).

4.2.2 Access the OCX V11 Files

If you have not already ended Kofax services and closed the RSA , see Section 3.6.6.1 Close Kofax and Disable Kofax Services and then return here.

Regardless of whether this is a new install of Kofax or a reinstall of the just OCX files, you must download different OCX files for this 64-bit machine. Right click on the file and select Save target as: OCXV11-64 bit.zip.

  1. The following eight files should now be wherever you unzipped them:

    1. HFSValidationCtrl.ocx

    2. DHFSWRAP.dll

    3. HFS_Custom_panel_Validation.reg

    4. Index.exe.config

    5. AcLicImp.dll (replace the existing version)

    6. DFBatchClass.ini

    7. msvbvm60.dll (to be used only if necessary)

    8. msstdfmt.dll (to be used only if necessary)

  2. Copy and paste the first five files (a.-e.) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin of the scan station PC, unless you are installing a dual workstation PC. In that case, save the files to C:\Program Files (x86)\kofax\captureSS\ServLib\bin.

  3. Create a folder called C:\Program Files\Kofax\Capture\Bin. Copy the DFBatchClass.ini file into that folder.

  4. If this is a reinstall of these files, choose to replace all files.

  5. For a standalone/client, go to Start > Run and in the text box, paste regedit "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin\HFS_Custom_panel_Validation.reg".

For a server dual station, go to Start > Run and in the text box, paste regedit "C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Kofax\CaptureSS\ServLib\Bin\HFS_Custom_panel_Validation.reg".

  1. If you receive a message warning that you are about to edit the registry, click Yes to continue.

  1. You should get a message indicating that the registry was updated. Click OK.

4.2.3 Register HFSValidationCtrl.ocx

Next you need to register some files with Windows.

  1. To register the ActiveX control, go to C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe in Windows Explorer. Right click on the cmd.exe file and select Run as administrator.

  1. Click Yes.

  2. For a standalone/client, paste regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin\HFSValidationCtrl.ocx" in the text box and click OK. Make sure you include the last quotation mark.

For a server dual station, paste Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\CaptureSS\ServLib\Bin\HFSValidationCtrl.ocx" in the text box and click OK. Make sure you include the last quotation mark.

If you have any issues in executing the above command, please contact DHS support by clicking Contact Us in the toolbar above.

  1. When you click OK, you will get a message saying that the ActiveX component was registered successfully.

  1. Click OK again.

4.2.4 Register the .dll Files

Registering the .Net DLL files is a slightly different process.

  1. Open a command prompt window. (Start > Run. Type cmd in the field and click OK.)

  2. Starting at the C prompt, type C: and hit enter or try chdir c:\ if that does not work.

  3. For a standalone/client, paste C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\regasm "C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin\DHFSWRAP.dll" at the command line. Make sure you include the last quotation mark if you copy and paste this path.

For a server dual station, paste C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\regasm "C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Kofax\CaptureSS\ServLib\Bin\DHFSWRAP.dll" at the command line. Make sure you include the last quotation mark if you copy and paste this path.

  1. Press Enter. You will then be notified of the successful completion of the registration.

  1. Search for two .dll files that should already be installed and registered. Occasionally, they are missing and will need to be replaced. Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and look for msstdfmt.dll and msvbvm60.dll. If they are missing, go to the next step. If they are already in the folder, go to step 9.

  2. Copy and paste the two .dll files (g. and h. in Section 4.2.2 Access the OCX V11 Files) to C:\Windows\SysWOW64.

  3. To register the msstdfmt.dll file, go to Start > Run. In the text box, paste regsvr32 "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msstdfmt.dll". (Make sure you include the quotes.) Click OK and you will see a prompt after successful registration. Click OK and the dll would be successfully registered.

  4. To register the msvbvm60.dll file, go to Start > Run. In the text box, paste regsvr32 "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvbvm60.dll". (Make sure you include the quotes.) Click OK and you will see a prompt after successful registration. Click OK and the dll will be successfully registered.

  5. Reboot the PC.

Return to Section 3.6.6.6 Edit the DFBatchClass.ini File to complete the installation instructions. From this point forward, the instructions are the same regardless of the version of Windows you are using.
